Esther Nowelle

Clinical Counsellor
CCAC, RCC

Esther provides client-centred, trauma-informed counselling that supports clients in navigating life’s challenges and fostering personal growth. She works collaboratively to help individuals tap into their innate resilience and strength, using warmth and gentle humour to create an approachable space for exploration and healing.

Esther is a skilled and dedicated couple therapist.  Her approach is integrative and results-oriented, drawing on cognitive behavioural couple therapy (CBCT), emotion-focused couple therapy (EFCT), and the ‘Gottman Method.’  She uses humour and compassion to help couples: 1) improve communication, 2) repair emotional wounds and relationship ruptures (such as infidelity, resentment, and unresolved conflict) and, 3) build a healthier relationship that meets both partners’ needs.

Esther welcomes couples from ages and cultures, as well as LGBTQ+ couples, polyamorous and non-monogamous couples.  Additionally, Esther is a skilled sex therapist—a rare specialization, even amongst experienced couple therapists!  Regardless of their unique goals, each couple finds that Esther is always empathic and never ‘takes sides.’  This balanced approach helps both partners feel safe and supported as they work on goals that can be vulnerable or scary to talk about.

Drawing from her background in Restorative Justice, Esther takes a holistic view of well-being, recognizing the interconnectedness of personal history, relationships, and environment. She has experience supporting clients with substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and LGBTQ+ concerns. Esther emphasizes acceptance, courage, and self-compassion.
