Sandra Atkins

Sandra is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Over the past 25 years, she has provided individual and group counselling in healthcare, education, and community-based settings. She has specialized training in several evidence-based modalities including Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MiCBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Somatic Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).

Sandra uses a trauma-informed approach, that is collaborative and responsive to each client’s unique needs. She is passionate about supporting clients seeking healing, growth, and change to optimize their mental, emotional, and social well-being. Believing in the mind-body connection, Sandra’s holistic approach is grounded in cognitive, somatic, and relational exploration. With compassion and empathy, she provides a safe therapeutic connection to support you in responding to life’s challenges. Sandra’s primary areas of focus are anxiety and depression, trauma, grief & loss, sleep difficulties, changing addictive patterns of behaviour, and navigating relationships with self and others. She has extensive experience working with clients living with caregiver burden, professional burnout, and chronic health conditions.

When she’s not working, Sandra enjoys daily mindfulness practice and spending time in nature-based activities with family and friends.
